Thanks for the info. That's too bad!

Any word on the ebay boards with the CP-40? --Colin

    NO3:PO4-x and alkalinity

That is far less than most would dose. Recommended dosing is anywhere from 1 to 3 ml per 100 liters.

    NO3:PO4-x and alkalinity

I see. My problem is my alkalinity is reading too high. How might the acetic acid affect an alkalinity test? I'm using a Hanna Checker. --Colin

    NO3:PO4-x and alkalinity

Can anyone chime in on NO3:PO4-x's effects on alkalinity? It contains acetic acid, and according to this article by Randy Holmes-Farley, acetic acid may contribute to total alkalinity. The article is a little over my head, but it doesn't seem to specific on how much it may contribute. Thanks...

    Seneye Reef Monitor

I've had one for a few months now. pH seems sketchy. It reads 0.3 higher than my pH probe. Who knows which is right. I think I'll drop the slide into some 7.0 calibration solution and see what happens. Temp is about 0.4 degrees lower than my Reef Angel temperature probe, which is a...

I was sure it was a female, then I saw the fin.

    Hannah Checkers

The alk is easy to use. The calcium is more difficult. It only uses a 0.1 ml sample so you have to be super careful and accurate with your technique. The phosphate (at least my older one) has a bad habit of shutting off really quickly after the reading is ready so I always set a separate...

Stray voltage, pH drop, fan problem (any EE's around?)

Nothing obvious. I'm still baffled as to why it only occurred when the fan was blowing on the water, and even with a grounding probe installed. --Colin

Stray voltage, pH drop, fan problem (any EE's around?)

Outlet checks out OK. I tried another outlet on another circuit for the grounding probe as well as a true earth ground and neither helped. And the winner is... Bad pH probe! Swapped it out with an extra and it's not dropping. It's reading 8.58, but it's not dropping. :D Time to order a...

Stray voltage, pH drop, fan problem (any EE's around?)

It's a well documented "feature" :D. Stray voltage causes the pH reading to drop. Usually, it's a significant drop to 1 or 2. It's actually kind of handy sometimes. :D

Stray voltage, pH drop, fan problem (any EE's around?)

I've moved the pH probe from the middle of the sump to the far end, so the fan is on one end of a 40B and the probe is at the other end. I'll watch it and see how it does. I'll try some of the other suggestions on Monday when I have some free time. --Colin

Stray voltage, pH drop, fan problem (any EE's around?)

Moved away from drain line, higher up, still dropping. I'll try plugging the ground probe into an outlet. --Colin
