Bubble tip Anemone needs strong light & water flow?

Wow! That's a little disturbing. I have ordered from that site in the past and been very happy. I think I got my clean up crew from there when I first set up in 2003. They know what they're doing, but the picture is even white. Perhaps that's why it is on sale? It doesn't even say if it is...

Bubble tip Anemone needs strong light & water flow?

Condylactis anemone is sometimes mistaken for a BTA and has white tentactles. A Condylactis has a much stronger sting and can hurt fish.

Bubble tip Anemone needs strong light & water flow?

Anemones are nourished and feed on plankton/mysis/small fish etc but they also are like corals in that they have photosynthetic zooxanthellae that allows light to nourish them, too. So they ideally need both good light and food, but at least need good quality from one or the other. BTAs can...

My Clown fish has left its anemone after almost 7 years and is spinning in circles.

Glad to hear it! No, that doesn't sound mean .... Its usually the best course. Good luck!

BTA deflating numerous times last 24 hours

As long as it inflates back and its mouth remains tight, I wouldn't worry too much. I wouldn't change light or anything much because that could only unsettle it and make it move more. Make sure your temperature and salinity is staying pretty consistent throughout the day. A BTA in serious...

My Clown fish has left its anemone after almost 7 years and is spinning in circles.

Is it swimming into the current or rubbing on rocks? Have you added any fish or new coral/rock that could have brought in any parasite recently? Edit - sorry ... just saw your post that you haven't added anything. I guess just watch and see if it happens again. Age is definitely not a...

Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

No, the Tunze 9004 will only fit in one of the outer chambers. I really wanted to do the fuge option in one of the caddy slots and didn't want to lose the media basket so very, very, sadly returned the Tunze I had bought for this tank and bought a Ghost. If you want to use the Tunze, you have...

I wasn't familiar with that one - thanks for the tip! Will check it out. I have a Tunze in hand, but haven't opened it and can still return.

Good to know Reduck, Thanks. Which chamber were you running the fuge in? I thought I was setting up my IM 40 this weekend, but the Marine Depot elves must have been sipping too much eggnog and sent me 2 aquariums rather than 1 tank and 1 stand. So I have a little more time to figure things...

How's that layout working for you, Mr2KKiEu? How's that layout working for you, Mr2KKiEu? I'm about to set up my Fusion 40 and want to use the Tunze, but also got the 2nd media caddy and a light to set up fuge. Now am seeing that Tunze only fits in 1 or 5 so I'm going to have to choose...

How Many GPH Power Head for 65 gal tank

It depends on how much water movement you're getting from your circulation pump, how and where it is directed back into the tank and what kind of corals you're talking about. Not enough info here to really answer a question. You may need a little more movement or a lot. I used to use MaxiJet...

Rose Tip Anemone Question Problem ? Need Help

They typically deflate considerably at night. Mine often completely ball up or go into the rocks at night and inflate normally during the day. I don't think anyone has ever proven any theories why sometimes they bubble and sometimes extend tentacles. I have seen them vary throughout the day -...

What is the fish you regret putting in your tank the most?

Diamond Goby. Everything was beautiful and stable in my tank before I added him and my sand bed was a tad dingy, but live and healthy. At first I was happy because my sand bed got so clean and he was fun to watch, but the dust storms were awful and then I realized that not only was he killing...

    GBTA Won't Stick to Rock

That it couldn't attach to glass when it tried sounds like foot damage, especially if otherwise color and appetite were good. You shouldn't have to turn off all your flow for a healthy anemone to attach, but any power heads with intakes inside your tank need to be covered or shut off till the...
