Might try that and if it is not blue enough then I will run the actinics as well. Relly like the 20kk look. It really makes the colors pop and this being a nano I don't really need fast growth rates. Thanks for the info Mike
I had the PC actinics on last night and the wife walked by and saw the Zoa's green center glowing and now she is all excited about this. lol I had always told her if she would just take a minute and look at the tank she would see what I do. I finally happened. :) I got the materials to build...
I thought about that to EKlikewhoa, but I thought I would build a new canopy as the AP hoods are a PITA to take off. Plus I don't want the MH that close to the water. Thanks for everyones input, I am going to try the 20kk and actinics for dusk/dawn only and if I don't like it the I will switch...
Well if you can keep the temps down it will work. I have heard good things about the Phoenix 14kk lamps, but it you want color I think that a 20kk would be better.
good to know that is what I have been reading. I want more color then the PC lighting is giving me and the 20kk will give that to me from what I have read about MH. Thanks for your input Jon.
yes it can change the color depending on the light. Lighting depends on your size tank. Are we talking about the 10g or a bigger tank. I am currently building a canopy for my aquapod to house a 70w DE MH retro and 27w PC actinic. I am thinking of using a 20kk bulb and the PC just for...
not sure it could be splitting. Pic is a little blurry to really see good. Might want to search around here (if you can) for splitting zoas and see if the pics that you find are close. hth
if you want to post a pic you can use photobucket or any other photo hosting site and copy the img tag and paste it here. Works great. Also check out zoaid.com as well
I am in the process of upgrading the lighting in my AP 12g. I am going to DIY a canopy iso I was thinking of putting in a 70w MH retro. I will use the ballast from the current hood so that I can use the PC for dusk/dawn and the LED for moon lights. All Zoa tank maybe a ric or two.
1st...
I had some on a rock and I had to manually pull it out until it was small then my astraea snails keep it mowed down and in control. I don't like hermits as they tend to kill snails for their shells(if they are the right ones) so I stay away from them. What test kits are you using might be that...
Sorry those are zoanthid polyps plus the pic was taken out of water so I could get a good close shot of it. Here is what I found that it looks more like but not sure if this is it or not Porphyra leucosticta
That is the closest I have found in color but it does not have bubbles at all(at least not yet). Very flat (and thin like a leaf) unless it starts out this way then fills. I have battled green bubble algae(so far so good) and this is totally different. Time will tell if it starts to bubble up...
Not sure what this is. I admit I have not done a look of research on it but thought I would post and see if some one could Id. Not the best pic.
It is fleshy felling like the skin of a peach and it doesn't break easy at all. It is more of a maroon purple then the picture shows.
