    Magnificent Stubby Tentacles

I've changed a few things around the tank, improved water flow, sped up water flow through sump, plumped the Skimmer from the return pump instead of being fed directly from display tank and then flowing to the sump, and replaced the crappy AI light that I was using. I'm now using a Kessil A360NE...

    Magnificent Stubby Tentacles

He hated the 40 gallon? That is funny. Was it a 40 breeder tank or a tall tank? I was curious about the lighting height. I'm glad he's thriving in your big tank.

    Magnificent Stubby Tentacles

I want to agree with you about the starving notion. Other then getting back his color back, his tentacles have actually shortened more and more since the bleaching event. I feed every 2 days. Even tried smaller portions and daily, but he'd puke up the food. He and I have settled on small (size...

    Magnificent Stubby Tentacles

I've had this amazing Magnificent Anemone for a few years now, but I cannot figure out why he's morphed from a gorgeous Magnificent to a sickly Sebae. I cannot figure out a better way to describe it. He had long tentacles that looked like what you'd see on a reef in the wild. A years passed and...

    Anemone killing Cipro resistant superbug?

This new "cipro resistant" disease you mention, what did your nems do? What symptoms did they have? I've run two sessions of Cipro on my Mag, once because I acquired him and I suspect vendor to store travel got him sick. The other from from snails I added to my DT that did not seem to need...

    Ritteri losing tentacles

Damn it all. I came here to find answers about my Heteractis Magnifica suffering from what looks like is tentacle consumption. Basically, the nem is rittled with filaments inside of the tentacles, almost all tentacles are like this. He used to have long, fat, bulbous, beautiful tentacles like a...

    LED for magnifica

I agree, I don't like the super actinic or windex blue that's been popular. Nice on using the Sol's. What was in the tank on the right? Looks wicked!

    LED for magnifica

Oohhh, wish I saw this thread earlier. I'm getting ready to setup a 65 gal to be a Mag home with clowns, nothing else. I've used the Hydra 1st gen over RBTA's before and they were fine. But they're old now and I'm looking to upgrade. I want to hear from the LED folks what they run for their...

    My new mag

Hi there. Love your Mag. What lights are you running over him? What settings? Is he bleaching?

    NO3 0ppm, PO4 .25ppm, healthy chaeto and brown slime

Another question. Is a little phosphate good in attempting to have some nutrients? Or is it better to have some nitrates and no phosphates?

    NO3 0ppm, PO4 .25ppm, healthy chaeto and brown slime

Did you run into Dinos? This tank is my first tank to hit zero nitrates. I've had FOWLR systems for many years, and nem tanks a few years. This is my first tank with Chaeto too, because I hate GHA. But I'm getting the impression a little GHA is good.

    NO3 0ppm, PO4 .25ppm, healthy chaeto and brown slime

Yes, zero is what I'm getting for nitrates. I've never thought that war even possible. Confirmed with two different tests. Might explain why Chaeto is growing slow, but green and thick. I'm getting the consensus that PO4 needs to be gone, and NO3 hovering at 5 ppm. I'll shoot for that. Thanks...

    NO3 0ppm, PO4 .25ppm, healthy chaeto and brown slime

Hello folks, I may be in need of a different test kit, but I'm fighting chemistry and bubbly brown hair slime in my anemone harem. Tank is 2.5 years old. Two 1st Gen Hydra LEDs, tuned to ~150 PAR 55 gallon DT 10 gallon fuge Dense Green chaeto Salinity 1.026 Temp 78 KH 10 Calcium 420...

    new mag, new worries ?

Minh, what are your choices to getting good, fresh, safe seafood for your nems?
  15. I

    new mag, new worries ?

I'm cautious about market seafood. I've lost a few BTA's to market shrimp and clams. I suspect they are sprayed with some preservative so they can sit in the meat cooler longer. The poor nems would devour the food, only to sit drooping with mouth gaping open and innards hanging out a couple days...
