    Iodine article in TFH magazine.

I respect Doug for starting this thread. I think we should all periodically re-examine what we are doing. Who said this: :) I also understand the point of view of those who see no benefit in adding iodine (or numerous other chemicals) because IME I have come to the same conclusion. I know that...

Haven't seen it Doug. Can you summarize what he says?

    Dosing Iodine??

I used to dose, quit because I didn't like not being able to monitor the levels. I think my tanks have looked better since without it. I would rather stick with regular water changes.

Angel & Tang with Ick for a month

Lori said it better than I could have, or possibly tried to. All I ask is people treat each other with some respect and at least attempt to keep the discussion clean. I would also like to see all parties stay to post another day. :) ------------------ Larry M "My Dad could build--or...

Angel & Tang with Ick for a month

John--I think you are out of line with your approach to this discussion. I don't see anywhere that Terry claimed to be an expert. What I have seen him do is help many people over the years save their fish. Not everyone agrees with his approaches, that is fine. But I have seen countless posts...

Angel & Tang with Ick for a month

I'm not sure I see the importance of knowing whether ich is always present or not. Would you choose a different disease treatment based on that bit of knowledge? You can't treat in a reef tank anyway (at least not proven, IMO) so what's the difference? Does this mean you wouldn't quarantine...

    Fighting Tang

Please do keep us informed, Planoi. After 3 years of reading these message boards, and after going through this same thing myself, it seems to me that your experience is far more common than Vins Fins. Or maybe his tangs are exhibiting aggressive behavior too and he doesn't realize it...

    Fighting Tang

I have found, like HFF, that tangs of the same family will not get along under most conditions. I once tried putting a raccoon butterfuly and a yellow tang together and got the same results. If they think the new guy looks like them, trouble starts..... Good luck, ------------------ Larry M...

Fish of the week #3-Synchiropus splendidus-Green mandarin

Check out the archive section, we have started a separate archive section especially for this series, and the coral of the week series. ------------------ Larry M "My Dad could build--or fix--anything. Just give him a hammer, a saw, a piece of wire, and a stick. Then get the hell out of the...

Fish of the week #3-Synchiropus splendidus-Green mandarin

lts--It's tough for anyone to say if something is absolutely necessary or not. I do think, though, that if you cover as many bases as possible--meaning as much live rock as possible, do the macro-algae thing, get detritivore kits, etc--you will have a much better chance of keeping a mandarin...

Fish of the week #3-Synchiropus splendidus-Green mandarin

Nice pics, Playfair. I would call that mandarin on the left a male, due to the spike on the dorsal fin. The one on the right, of course, is a different mandarinfish, picturatus. ------------------ Larry M "My Dad could build--or fix--anything. Just give him a hammer, a saw, a piece of wire...
