Thanks. I'm reading up about dosing nitrates and how that generally leads to a reduction in phosphates. I'm hesitant to mess with that since I can't seem to get readings of anything besides zero on my Hanna checker and might not be able to tell what my levels really are. Before getting into a...
Yes I'll certainly change the GFO more frequently and see how that goes. I've got no algae problems anywhere but on the glass. It's just annoying to lose a clear view into the tank after a day. I'm more concerned about the low nitrates. Should I have measurable nitrates and should I try to add...
My tank is just over 200 gallons and I keep things basic. Skimmer, 45g water changes usually every 3-4 weeks and moderate use of gfo and carbon (though I should replace more often). I feel like my corals are looking quite washed out and generally could look better. Haven't had polyp extension...
Thanks for the input. I've ordered a 72" actinic blue to see how it goes. I currently have all my T5s come on and go off at the same time but I may stagger them to end with fewer bulbs running. That way when I'm actually viewing the tank at night the pop might be visible.

My tank is 84x24x24 and is currently lit with 8 rows of T5. A mix of mostly About half Blue+ and a mix of Coral+ and actinic...
Have an expensive problem on my hands. All I need to do is drive two 36" 39w t5. My buddy gave me an old 48" 6 bulb tek. One of the ballasts was apparently dead. Turns out the one that drives the outer 2 bulbs was shot. The ballast driving the middle 4 bulbs is a ICN-4S54-90c-2LS-G. It says...
Thanks guys!
That pink coral was actually a red planet strangely enough. The person I sold it to has it looking like a red planet should now. I actually preferred how it looked in my tank though.
I've officially moved on from large tanks after finally realizing I can't stomach the ongoing...
The previous owner of my last tank agreed to try and buff some of the scratches out for me with cerium oxide. These were not deep scratches. He worked in a glass shop and was very experienced. He spent hours and was able to improve some of the very shallow ones. The ones you could feel with your...
