    Sand for Diamond Goby

I wanted to prepare my substrate for a diamond goby. I have a mature 65G reef tank with ton of pods. I used to have gravel, but removed it couple weeks ago to switch to a substrate more appropriate for a sand sifter. I was reading that "sugar grain" (0.8-1mm grain) salt is still appropriate for...

    Save Bangai Cardinal eggs

Baby Banggais - or even adult Banggais - are easily stressed, adults get brown, I even had one die from stress after being bullied in LFS. Baby Banggais are known to die from stress when eating unenriched brine shrimps. I was able to get away with it by feeding baby brine shrimps asap when they...

Stocking question for 2 tanks, different goal

Why not? I was not planning to add both, just one (depending on what LFS has).

Stocking question for 2 tanks, different goal

Thanks! It never occured to me that I can do anything other than move the tank to other position. I am leaning toward combining these two DT into one bigger and further from the windows, but in 1-2 years time and there is a lot of clean up to do in the tanks in the mean time

Stocking question for 2 tanks, different goal

Good to know. What tangs that can be kept as juveniles in 70G are not likely to bother a lawnmower? In the past, I had once a large lawnmower and a baby yellow tang, and they got along very well, but now with Hawaii ban yellowtangs are difficult to get.

Found bristleworms, are these good or bad?

Most people consider them beneficial, some even buy them. In addition to possibility of getting hurt, do not leave a tank with them fish-less for to long ... I once did, and they became so big that they were swallowing my baby Banggais ;(

Is it likely that re-using Marine Pure Spheres would spread aiptasia?

But the problem is cannot start completely from scratch - I have a couple of really nice corals in the old DT, a clam, etc - so far free of aiptasia based on visual examination. So you advice "in situ" treating of aiptasia - e.g. berghia? I was also thinking of doing it, but prolly I would have...

Is it likely that re-using Marine Pure Spheres would spread aiptasia?

As in the title, I have aiptasia problem in my tanks, I am tryink to set up a small tank and migrate there my aiptasia-free corals (visually inspected/gently manually cleaned?) and RBTA + clown and clam (before they will be all covered in aipt) while working on removal of aiptaisia in the other...

    In praise of smaller species...

No, I do not have anything particularly nasty - just bits of annoying green hair algae or more brownish things occasionally. My phosphates were 0, still got it. also I am keeping lps mostly, with water too clean (vodka dosing), I was getting dinos and other problems. I got also red slime often...

Thanks! And what smaller fish do you recommend for algae control?

    In praise of smaller species...

I used to have a tank like that and I loved that! The one problem I ran into was with yellow clown gobi, I was first feeding all Rod's food and everything was OK. But then I transitioned to PE mysis, which apparently where too big for this little guy and I sadly lost him. what is the best food...

Stocking question for 2 tanks, different goal

Hello, I am getting back to the hobby, have 2 RSM 250 (65 gallons), with somewhat different goals: 1. First, I have RBT + pair of clowns, couple corals, a clam. It is better positioned to observe corals and small fish, so I want to add fire fish there, an ornamental shrimp (or a pair)...
