    Brightwell ChaetoGro Dosing

According to the instructions, "add 5ml (1 capful) of product per 20 US-gallons of aquarium volume twice each week". However, they recommend daily dosing and suggest "6 drops per 20 US-gallons per day". I am trying to figure out a dosage for my 80 gallon tank but I am somewhat confused. Using...

    MARINECRITTERS Redsea Reefer 350

Update! The tank has been up for almost three years now; I figured some new photos were due. No new inhabitants have been added to the tank in the last year or so… I chose to let the few corals I have grow into a reef rather than stuffing a bunch of tiny frags together. Huge piece of war...

    MARINECRITTERS Redsea Reefer 350

One of my favourite pieces, favia sp. RR Strawberry Shortcake, an extremely slow-growing coral in my experience. Lastly, I have moved to a more simple filtration approach. I have found that simplicity is key to a stable reef tank and to achieve this I have removed a lot of the...

Update: The tank is quickly approaching 2 years now and I want to share what's going on! I have not seen any casualties in close to one year and all the corals are thriving. The most major setback I have faced is an infestation of acropora eating flatworms… It really sucked as I lost some of my...

    Strange brown bacteria/algae

I was carbon dosing for about 6 months with bio pellets. I took the reactor off line with anticipations that the bacteria would recede… No such luck yet.

    Strange brown bacteria/algae

This brown slimy algae has been growing in my tank for a few months. First, it started out on the sand but now it has absolutely covered my rocks. Any idea what it is? And how do I get rid of it? I originally thought my bio pellets were causing it but with the reactor offline the algae still...

Does Nannochloropsis grow in the cold?

I had a few bottles of Tetraselmis sitting outside during a Canadian winter. Somehow the cells survived so you should be fine.
