    Toadstool mushroom struggling

That's great! Thanks so much for posting the results, it's good to know for other people looking for the same advice, and nice to hear that my good experience with this method was repeatable.

    Shorthand?

Been in the hobby for over 15 years and that's a new one on me. Well, I suppose those acronyms are just trade slang anyhow, and far from any scientific validity. I'm going to keep on calling them SPS "small polyp stoney" though.

    Toadstool mushroom struggling

Good luck! If you have a lot of other corals in the display it would be worth running a bit of carbon because even if you cut the sarco out of the tank it is going to release a lot of mucous once you return it.

    Toadstool mushroom struggling

I kept several morphs of sarcophytons for years, and this happened to almost all of them at least once. They always seemed prone to bacterial infection (which is what I always suspected it was). It always started on the stalk and looked exactly like your picture. Never any explanation or...

    Water movement, Tunze, Vortec, Jebao?

Hmmmm. I set up exactly to directions and used the little rubber pad B/C my glass is very thin. However, my tank is only 12 inches deep and so though I used the mounting tab above the pump, it is only stuck about an inch above the dry side. I simply cannot put it up any higher D/T the shallow...

    Water movement, Tunze, Vortec, Jebao?

When I was gifted my Vortech I knew about the noise issue. I doubt if anyone can claim ignorance to that. I think most reefers network to some extent or other, and most research their purchases ahead of time. In my case, I actually visited a Vortech and noted the noise with my own ears. I...

    Water movement, Tunze, Vortec, Jebao?

I don't know if you've decided yet, but I just got an MP10 last week and can give you some feedback. I love it, with a couple of caveats. The ease of set up is nice. It definitely looks sexy. The function choices are very fun, though IMO only a few of them are really useful. The flow is...

Using this AC Adapted With Ecoxotic Panorama Module- Safe?

So I've had an Ecoxotic (lighting) system for quite some time. For those not familiar with the brand, the system is modular, mine is based on 18 watt, 12 inch strips. I sunk quite a bit of money into this system last year, and have now decided I want to add another Panorama (or two) for more...

    HELP on LR ID. W/Pics.

Definitely an anemone sp, not sure which. Does not look like aiptasia or majano. Does it move? Is it in a tube? Can you see the foot, and is it smooth or warty? In the end, if you like it, keep it. Whether it grows very large, moves around alot, or starts splitting may determine any future...

Pest Tank Build- Help with Light!

Thanks, Hentz- I think I will go with the 12 inch.

Pest Tank Build- Help with Light!

My 30 shallow cube has too much rock and a few pests (anthelia and pretty majanos). I have a spare 10 gallon, hydor, and skimmer and want to set up a macro/pest tank. Looking at clip on lights on Amazon, any suggestions? Will spend 50ish bucks, or a bit more. What do folks think about the...

Planning/Purchasing of Deep Blue 30 shallow cube. Questions!

I have a short vacation later this week and through the weekend, I'll update with progress pics. I never planned to keep SPS in this tank; I just don't have the time. So far I've got assorted zoanthid colonies, rhodactis colony, two types of gorgonian, blue anthelia, GSP, caulastria, fungia...

    Ecoxotic Dimmer Connector Sucks?

LJLKRL- I just used electrician's tape to connect them securely. I was irritated, but it wasn't worth waiting for a replacement to come (if there even is a replacement that really fits). So far I'm more than happy with my Ecoxotic lighting, just a couple very small complaints not really related...

Planning/Purchasing of Deep Blue 30 shallow cube. Questions!

I do have a lot of updates, but have been too busy lately to upload pics and post to the thread. Will do so on vacation week! However, tank came and was in great shape, packaged well. It's now fully cycled and mostly stocked. Pros on the tank: It's sexy looking, I like the corner overflow...

    Ph issue

FWIW, that isn't a terribly low pH, if indeed it's accurate. However, a little higher would be nice. Here's what I would do. First calibrate your meter. When calibrated, remeasure. If it's accurate, take a sample of tank water outdoors and aerate with an airstone for 15 minutes or so. Retest...
