So, receding flash during head split is normal?
Both heads used to have about same amount of green flash on skeleton. The one on the right side still has same amount. The one on the left exposed about half of the inch of the skeleton and now almost at the very tip.
Hope this is normal and I'm...
I have candy cane with 2 heads. One startet to split about a month ago. Still not split but the flash is receding on that head..
Is this part of the process or it is in trouble??
The other head looks ok..

Got my Crees today. Ordered whites from DealExreme on 7/9 (late night). Was not home to pick up on Friday (7/17). Had to go to post office today to pick it up.
Ordered 26. Tested each with two batteries. All worked fine.
Later this week should have 26 royal blues (from group buy) and two...
AndyReef, could you post where did you order it and what was the price, please?
I'm looking to buy 4 ELN-60-48d and interested in some options.
Thanks,
Not sure about model you need. I called PowerGate today about ELN-60-48D.
They told that this model is on back order with waiting time about 9 weeks :(
You can buy same heatsink from ebay and have it cut any way you need.
http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/barrredboss_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZ
The price is about the same as on heatsunkusa (probably same sellers), but he cuts it for free. This can save some people time and trouble cutting it at home.
Quick question.
If I buy buckpuck with External Dimming Control but no Potentiometer (3023-D-E-1000mA) is there anything else I would need to run LED from it (just add LEDs and power supply)?
I'm not going to use dimm function at the begining and want option to add controller later. Will this...
I'm not sure if I got size of the tank right, but here is two options you can use:
First one is just put 24"x5" heatsync as is.
Second is to cut it into 3 parts: 10", 6" and 6"
Hope this will help you.
I like second option because it should reach into corner unlike single 24" heatsync...
Thank you for information, Soundwave.
Your post saved me a lot of time searching for information. And your last post saved me a BuckPuck :)
I searched for 32V power supply. It looks like there is more 24V around and for less money then 32-48V.
Getting ready to order parts.
This is how I'm...
Reading this post I finally decided to build something for my 55 gal.
I'd like to understand why one BuckPuck http://ledsupply.com/03023-d-e-700.php can be used only for up to 6 LEDs (3 watt each).
If I will use Cree XR-E Q5 White at 700mA, the driving voltage should be about 3.5V.
The...
I'll try spot feeding it, but I'm not sure I will be able to do it for those two heads that do not look right.
I realized that Ca is a bit hight. Do you think this can add to a problem? I will try to bring it to 460-480.
I'm checking my records. I started them in Jan 2007 and I had the tank for some time when I started recording.
2007-09-08 Added frogspawn coral with two heads
2007-09-25 Changed lights (4x65W PC)
2008-03-26 Replaced Lights 4x65 (10000k/Actinic) bulbs
Should I try changing bulbs again or it...

Hi everyone.
I have Frogspawn Coral for some time now. It started as two heads and I have 5 now.
Couple of days ago one head did no open. I looked closer next day, couple of tentacles were out but some of them were very small and looked like damaged.
It is not opening at all today and I...
Thank you.
I checked some bulbs in local store. Looks like Actinic 03 (420) does not produce a lot of "visible" light. It's almost darc comparing to 10k or even to Actinic Blue (460).
If I have two Actinit 03 (420) and two 10k/Actinic03, will be it to dark for eyes?
Or is it two Actinic Blue...
