Key word was had, not have to. I don't have to on a regular basis. I had to once, not multiple occasions.
Too much light, corals expel there zooxanthellae. Turn off the lights, allow corals to recoup, wallah....magic. New fixture that produces more light than the previous one, corals have to...
Fixture works great, too good even. I had to turn it off a few days at about 15% on the blues and whites because my corals were starting to look like they were bleaching themselves.
After the few days off, corals look great again.
ZERO problems with my fixture.
So after a while I ditched the T5's and got an LED and fabricated the stand myself using some conduit, a pipe bender and some spray paint.
Also removed the GSP because it was attacking my zoos, some xenia to make room for more colorful corals that don't grow crazy fast and some of the less...
Ok so it's been a while since i have posted any of my tanks so i thought it was about time I post one.
I'm a little rusty and I realize that there is much more information that has come to light since my last reefing experience so feel free to let me know of any mistakes or anything you might...
What is the advantage? Also what is the difference between optics? I see 70, 90 and 120 degree optics. The 70 and 90 seem to be more expensive, but it would make more sense to me if you had the 120 degree optics for more light coverage right?

Notice this guy a few weeks ago and he was completely transparent. Now he seems to develop a brown stalk and I spotted another one in a dark area of the tank under an overhang, but he doesn't seem to be doing so well.
This was my best attempt to get a picture. He is very tiny, about half the...

Update:
Well it doesn't look like too many people are interested in this thread, but just in case I snapped a few photos this weekend after adding my DIY ATO.
Maintenance:
Every other day - feeding
Weekly - swapping out ATO jugs, 5G water change
Monthly - Cleaning the skimmer...
Last night sand, rock, fish and corals were transferred. I will add HD pictures tonight when i get home. (right after I play with my new leap motion!) Also i plan to swap the t5's for an led fixture as soon as my 55 and equipment sells.
I want to put the heater in between the baffles, but i'm afraid of the possibility the heater may get too hot and crack the glass. Is this possible, has anyone else done this with success?
