I am planning to get back in hobby with nano tank.

I plan on the following:

10 gallon tank of course

50W Heater Ebo Jager

10 - 15 lbs of Live rock from Gulf Live Rock not sure premium or corraline
Suggestions for this?

Caribsea sand I am guessing like 10-20lbs

Do I need filter? If so Fluval 30 I am guessing

Zoo Med AquaSun LED 18" what kind of corals can I get with this light?

Stocking options? Fish? Clean Up crew?

Sorry for all the ?'s

You can probably run it on a Penguin filter (2 pads)---we ran a successful 30 that way with just a couple of firefish and some mushrooms.

I had a 20g with a single fish, a nem, and alot of macroalgae. The annoying thing I found was film buildup. I'd add some HOB filter to break that up, or a small weir with no outlet and a sponge inside, alongside a way to move water into it. There are some youtube videos which would explain.

What kind of circulation pump? That light ok on eBay or zoomed or one better? What kind of corals can I keep with that light?

i'm running a 10 gallon with an ac 70 on the back, as my only source of water movement.

i've had some filter sponges in there, but i'm process of swapping them out in favor of some rubble/small rock. not sure how that will work out. have been very conscious about cleaning the sponges thoroughly and regularly.

i had a nano pump in there too at one point, but i took it out because the tank was small and overcrowded with equipment.

more to the point though, with the ac 70, i thought i was getting plenty of movement, so i don't think it was necessary.

not really making a recommendation to you, just to be clear, just offering my info for comparison.

I saw a video from marine depot on youtube where they got a 10g AIO tank and most of the supplies for less than $300, there were a lot of things missing but it still seemed like a great deal.

For a 10g, I'd do 8-10lbs liverock at most. The 1-2lbs rule is old school.

10lbs of sand is most you will need. You want to stick to 1-2" of sand unless you want a dsb.

The liverock is your biological filter so an hob will be good for media like carbon, purigen, phosguard. I use filter floss in mine to collect particles, I switch out the floss twice a week.

My favourite filter is the seachem tidal55 as it's silent, built in surface skimmer, controllable flow and a huge media basic. The pump is sicce as well. The best I've used out of all hob's.

Second to that is Aquaclear.

A good powerhead for a small tank is the hydor 240.

I had the zoomed light. It's not the greatest.

I'd recommend aquamaxx nemolight, coral compulsion par38 35 watt, Ai Prime

I use the aquanaxx on my 10g and it's great for lps and softies. Programmable, sleek, no heat issues.

I have the Ai on my 15g. Awesome light. I have a full mixed reef under it.

I came across another light called sb lights and seen people that use them I am leaning towards this or the Chinese ones just as good? Sbreeflights.com
