Shane,

Please give up the selling idea and come back to join us. Selling everything you got will take more work than you are actually working on the tank. When time gets tought give up what's bad for you and keep what's good and reefing is good for you Dammmmn it :D :D. Here is my simple list:

Wife 1 .... GOOD :)
GF/mistress .... BADDDDD :(
Reefing ... GOOD :)
No reef tank ... BADDDD :(
caring friends ... GOOD :)
Bad friends ... BADDDD :(

So as you can see, reefing is pretty high up there on the list of keepers. It's a no brainer if you ask me :D

Maybe sell some of the stuff to get some cash but keep just enough to run the tank sufficiently. For instant, if you keep two ecotechs you really don't need the wave box. Turn down your photo period to save energy. You also don't need the sea swirls and two return pumps. Your skimmer is NOT energy efficient you should sell it and get a more efficient one. I am sure we can look at your whole system and turn it into an energy efficient, fine tuned machine to keep the maintenance down so it is not a burden to you to maintain. Right there is $1000 cash back into your pocket and you still get to keep the tank.

this next weekend the wife is out of town and i am really trying to think of some way to save some $ and time on the tank. I'd like to move all the filtration under the house. Yes i need to get rid of the skimmer, that skimmer is for a tank 3 times my size...it pulls eveything but running 3 pumps all the time adds up on PGE.

I'll be pulling a leapord stergon fish out of th tank this weekend. The guy is about 10-12 inch and has been eating my shrooms makes me mad.

I'm still trying to sell the tank but i won't go lower than 3K. I'm already loosing my ....at that point.

Bottom line i either need ot find a way to stream line the maintance big time, less than 1 hour a week or it has to go. That is about all the time i have at this point.

PS: the wave box has saved me a few times when i fotgot to turn the pumps back on after feeding. It kicks back on after 2-3 min. with the photo cell.

I hear ya Tom........i have your o-zone reader too.

I was wondering where that thing was lol. I am building an ozone reactor so eventually I'll need to get that thing back. Maybe I'll trade it for your cooler? lol

If you need help streamlining your set up, maybe we can set a side sometime at your house and go through it?

BTW, I never turn off my pump when I feed, they better get it fast or stay hungry so they eat very fast. ;)

Shane you couldchange over to fowlr and cut back on almost everything. Maybe just keep a few lps. You have always liked the a lot of fish... Just a thought. Grant

Tom your list made me laugh. Thanks.

Shane, going FOWLR would be a lot easier, and wouldn't necessitate MH lighting or even skimming. Dosing would be negligible to nonexistant.

had another tire kicker this week....there is interest but no one with the $$$.

Tom I may go boar hunting again this weekend on sat morning. I can try to do the cooler for o-zone swap again.

I'm thinking i may do the FOWLR switch and just keep the simple coral. But if it sells than it sells.

Do you still have the acan you mentioned in the video from your other post? Do you have a pic of it?

Ok i just watched your video on your tank and I have to agree with Tom, you need to try and do what you can to save your tank. I got rid of my tank 4 years ago, and i regretted it ever since. And here i am again with a new tank, a much smaller tank, starting all over again. Which, after watching your video you have a passion for this stuff, tells me that you most likely will will start all over again later. So try and keep it, it looks wonderful.

Thanks for the complement, I’ve been working on it for a few nights now and need to move the filtration under the house and then I think I can streamline the filtration, water changes....to make it easier to maintain. If I get some time I'll post some pics of the future filtration spot.

Shane, if you can sell one of your pump and the skimmer, you might want to think about investing in a new return pump. The Laguna 1500 gal/hr is very efficient (60 watt) vs your Genx at 110 watt. If you couldn't get rid of your down draft skimmer, you can always replace the genx 55 (130 watt) with the laguna 1500 at 60 watt.

When I initially got into this I was not thinking of watts as mush as i should have.

Right now I run a blue line 1300gph pump, not sure on watts but it add heat to the water, good for winter.

gen-x 55 for the skimmer....ordered the skimmer. Need to sell pump and skimmer ASAP!

I use to run the ocean runner 1500, not sure on watts. I cut this pump out and now only have 1 return pump. I did this originally in case the main return pump ever went out in the middle of the night, but that has never happened, knock on wood.

I took pics but need to upload them to photobucket and RC.
