190 Gallon SPS dominated corner tank

Well i wanted to show my 190 gallon tank over here aswell.

Sorry if the gallons are incorrect at times. I preffer liters/meters/centimeter


I got a coner tank. Measurements: both sides 120 cm (4 feet). The window to the front is 40 cm ( 1 feet 4 ") and got an height of 65 cm ( 2 feet ).

Since this is in the corner of the room against a stair closet i used that to house all my equipment (RO/DI + sump)

In my sump i use a BBK mini 180 from my old tank.
I got an Ecorunner 6000.
Using 3 splitoffs i'm running UV, Biopallets and Phosfate / carbon.

For ato topoff i'm using a tunze osmolator (currently broken).

Lighting is done by 2x pacific sun triton running the Bali program.

For flow i'm using 2x tunze 6105 on the usb multicontroller) and 2x hydor 6000l/h (585 g/h) pumps. I preffer the wide stream nozzle of the 6105 however i just got one (the other one dates pre the time the shipped it free)

the hystrix shows its 2 week growth which seems to be pretty decent.

the 4th picture is of the coral being in the tank at most 15 minutes.

Some history.

I started with a 90 gallon tank about 3-4 years ago. I've been having problems keeping sps (esp acroproa's) in that tank. After a while i gave up and started focussing on LPS and some monti's.

For a long time i've not been adding a lot because i was building a new house.

When i moved my old aquarium to the new one roughly twice as big i moved it all in one day. After that i added a group of xanthurum's however they got ich and i lost half of my fish. One month later i never added anymore fish. However i've added some corals. And also some cleaner shrimp and some pepermint shrimp.

I got lucky mine like aipista. And ever since i've added them i'm aipista free!

For now i add TM liquit refill 200 ML/Day. Saving up for a calc reactor.

Thanks both. I know its far from most beautifull reef tank. But it all starts to grow. Well my aim is quite simpel. TOTM . If i can make that i got a perfect tank . As far as a reefer is ever happy

My shortcake is about 3 weeks in my tank, and 2 weeks glued. As you can see it's already encrusting.

I also have an other aus acro that showed some STN. I cut of about 5 frags to save it. But after that the STN stopped. Now i need to clean up the acro's dead tops but it seems to be recovering or at least the STN stopped. I won't cheer untill i see it grow out again.

For the first time i got a good picture of my strawberry shortcake. Its turning more green and red by the day some i'm really happy with it. also I can almost see it encrusting it's foot.

I've attached two immages. At one you can see the growth in about 1 week compared to the previous picture.

Looking at the dates i't actually the growth of 4 days.

Attached are some images of how it was all setup. From a tank in plastic to the process of moving the tank.

Well i never moved my old tank, i just put up a new one and moved the old tank inhabitants as much as possible into the new one. With the help from some friends it was done in about 2 hours.

Looking good, I think all reefers look to have TOTM one day. That's like the ultimate award. I know for me personally I'm years off from that mark. I love you SSC coral. I've been trying to hunt one down. Looking forward to seeing you tank mature.

There aren't that many around. Also this is the max you can do else you cannot keep the back sides clean. or you have to put in some kind of artificial reef against it. But now i need to keep it nice and blue all the time. Which is a pain.

You should give yourself more credit. Mine is just 6 months old. Hopefully it will grow out fast.

I really like yours the corals really pop.


I'll do updates here regurarly, but the pictures are quite new.

My tank is against a antracite black wall. My lamps hang from the ceiling. I'm still thinking of making a cannopy at the ceiling to hide the plugs in the ceiling.

recently i found a really cool Wrasse. I didn't want to post the picture right away. But it's in the tank for 1 week now, and he's eating brine shrim mysis and my dry food (small pellets).
