1st cycle process.

I'm in the process of my first cycle, my rock is now turning brown. My amonia, nitrite and nitrate were high 3days ago, but on sunday I used "Amqual+" the guy at the fish store said it was good for the water. What do you think about my rock, is it normal to turn brown. What do you think about "Amqual+"

It is normal for the rock and substrate to trun brown, you are having a diatom stage which will go away on its own.
I woudnt use anything in tank, let it go thru the cycle process on its own.
Amquel helps reduce ammonia and Nitrate, you dont need to add anything.

Thanks, I will stop using the Amqual+ until I do my first water change in about a month>

Make sure you wait to do your waterchange after the cycle is over, if you do one and the cycle isnt over you will only prolong the cycle.

I am in the process of cycling as well, although my levels still have have been at 0 for a week (was already cured rock). I was going to do a 10 percent water change tonight, should I not? I just started getting the brown diatom stuff the other day as well.

I agree with blown. after you cycle is done you wont need to add the Amqual, your LFS is just trying to sell you stuff you dont need

If the levels are stabile and havent changed at all, I would only do a small water change, you dont want to take to much out and have a cycle.
