2 kinds of Xenia

I have two kinds of xenia in my tank and they used to be separated by some distance now however they are in direct contact with each other and one species has currently stopped expanding and pulsing altogether. Is this common between 2 different species of xenia? should I separate them again?

I had 2 species grow together just fine.
