3 false perculas together?

I have had 1 false percula in my 58 gallon for 2 years now. It is still only 1.5 " or so. It does have a host RBTA that it lives in. My friend is getting rid of his tank and he has 2 false perculas roughly the same size maybe a slightly smaller that he wants to give me. Should I take them both, take just one, or take none?

If you already have one you shouldn't put anymore because as you probably know they are very territorial and the existing one will most likely attack the new ones. So don't take them and save some deaths

My friend has three true perculas in his 75 gallon. Two of them have become a pair while the third one kinda just does his own thing. Sometimes when the third perc comes too close to the pair's nest, the pair would fend him off to the other side of the tank.

It should be ok if your tank is big enough.

rolling the dice if you do....

I got 2 fals percs in my 300 gal.; inroduced at the same time and after 2 weeks, one decided the tank wasnt big enough for the 2 of them and would chase the other around the tank whenever he saw him.

Even when it didn't see him (chased the guy so much the other one would just hide in either corner fo the tank all the time) he would go looking for him to nip on!

Finally had to move the guy out (which gave me an excuse to setup a 20g nano :D).

You might get lucky but more than likely the one you have in the tank will fight the others.... just have a nano backup ready if they do :p

I love this hobby, the high scool kid just gave advice to a dentist. :)

isn't it great!!!!

but in seriousness: the pair out of the tank would be ok, if they were in your tank alone. the males turn into females-blah, blah... probably know that. yours that you have had for awhile is most likely now a female, and would try to kill the other incoming female. the male MAY or MAY NOT make it through the "you in my turf" fight

that said, your a dentist: set up a nice 20 gallon in your office for your clown, and find a TINY clown to set up tank with it: she'll dominate it, and it'll become a male. then, the other two can live peacefully in your tank at home.

and the kids will LOVE nemo!!!! -maybe put some info about clownfish (a cheap book/magazine/handout) next to the tank, and your set!

I have 4 clowns in my 75g tank... Got them all from someone else who had them in tank... after about a month in my tank, 1 started chasing 1 around like mentioned above. wouldn't leave this poor clown alone.... other 2 clowns were fine and didn't join in...

anyways, I put the small one being chased inside a tall glass container and put a net on top... i put this right in the tank as i didn't have much LR yet... left that little guy in there for a day and the bully realized it can't get it anymore. i let it out next day to take a risk and see what happened... and from that day on all 4 our friends again and no chasing at all. month later and they are fine and now i have tons of LR so they have plenty of space.

that's my story, and I'm sticking with it
