I just setup a 58g to replace a 30g cube that i had . . . pretty much all the equipment is being re used ( at least i havent had to buy anything else yet)

as for lighting, i was using a 250w MH pendant on my 30g . . . will one 250w be sufficient for the 36" 58g? i do plan on keeping SPS in this tank but id rather not buy another fixture if i can get away with using the one i already have
thanks

Do you have a center brace? I replaced my center brace with acrylic on my 65 so I wouldn't have a shadow. Here is a pic of my 65G with a single 250W MH to give you an idea.

It would be more concentrated light in the center but it's all how you arrange the tank. I have 2 mh's over a 36" long tank with 4X65 pc actinics which are being changed for 2X95 vho's.

I have a friend who has a 40 with a DE 150 over the center of the tank.He has great growth with very little shadow on the edges.

One 250 is perfect for an Oceanic 58, I assume that is what it is? I ran one with a single 250 for years, best tank I think I ever had. Moving stinks. Giesemann has a sweet fixture with one 250 and two T5s that is 24" it would look great on that tank, and all the light would go into your tank and not the room.

Oh yeah, and more halide means more heat too, unless you have a chiller or its in the basement.
