4" Icecap fan

Does anyone know where I can find a substitute 4" fan?
The Icecap I'm looking at is like $42 - wondering if I can find a similar product at a computer store some where.

Sure you can, but it wont be without some additional work.
Computer fans are 12VDC, so you'd have to buy the fan and then a plug and transformer.

What you need to do is compare the CFM of air movement of the Icecap to the CFM of various comp fans to be sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Another option is going online....I bought my 4" fans from www.mcmastercarr.com...And you can find 120V fans in there so I didn't need a AC/DC transformer.

There is also always ebay...I'm sure there's some on there too.

Spend the extra $$ for the IceCap fan.

I have had mine for over 5 years. No problems at all.

Plus, they have temperature control...the hotter the tank, the faster it runs.

Yea, but that takes the fun out of DIY'ing it! :D

But he's right...I've never heard anyone complain about an IceCap fan.

And BTW, $42???? I sneeze and my system costs me $42.

Are ice cap fans quiet? I mean relatively silent? I put some fans in my hood from radio shack and they are so loud I don't use them.

I read different claims on being quiet, but got them anyway. Mine are quiet....to me, it's just a slight droning sound that has blended in. I would recommend them....

Mhurley-

Wow i guess those 330's are expensive to operate. Hate to think how much it would cost if one of your fish sneezes.

And thats the size i want for my next tank.
