I don't run skimmers or refugiums on my tanks so I can't help you with that.

The aquamaxx nemolight is a good light, great for lps and softies. I use one on my 10g.

Mp10 have a great reputation and if it's in your budget, it's the Ferrari of powerheads.

Tunze makes some nice powerheads as well and there is hydors new aqamai wavemakers as well.

The water movement from powerheads/wavemkers is different than when you only rely on the Aio return flow, even with the rotator. The rotator is good but does make a lot of noise.

The upgraded media basket is really nice and a benefit.

Heaters: eheim jagger or the neotherm both have great reputations.

I wouldn't recommend a hydrometer. They aren't reliable. 1 bubble, uneven surface, or salt residue alters the results.

A refractometer and refractometer calibration fluid is the best.

For test kits.
Api ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate for cycle.

Alk, ca, magnesium: salifert or red sea pro

Phosphate: salifert or hanna

I am too getting an IM AIO aquarium, and i read that they do not come with media baskets anymore - are they needed at all, can you get by without it?
