I didn't have any plans, basically went off the way the stand is built. I can give measurements if that will help. If it were me I'd build it proportionate to your tank and stand. I don't like a very tall canopy on a smaller tank or a large on for that matter.
I used all 1X Select grade lumber, routed the corners to match the stand then started chopping

You essentially have the upright pieces, the top and bottom trim on the front and sides a few cleats, the plywood top and some left over masonite for the back. I glued (sparingly) and stapled the uprights to the front trim board then the sides, assembled the three pieces and added the plywood and masonite. It was all one piece which I then cut in half on the table saw and added the piano hinge.
As for the lighting I like aaron's T5s for your situation.
