6-line wrass in my overflow.

An overflow with a wrasse is a pain in the... Sorry.

Like chris mentions, try a small net. I had a large lionfish jump into my DIY overflow on the 75 (still not sure exactly how) through a very small opening (center brace of the tank runs through the middle of the overflow box), and there was very little room in the overflow due to the piping from the holes being drilled in the back. I was able to get it to jump back into the tank by prodding it from below with a net. It was probably more inclined to leave the confined overflow than a six line in a potential pod haven, though...

Got him!

I tried to coax him, and also a small net. The way I finally got him was I stopped the overflow (turned off the ball valve), filled the aquarium to the rim with water. Then I slowly filled up the space in the overflow with wads of paper towel from the bottom up, and he eventually decided there wasn't enough room in there for him and he swam through on of the openings for my loclines.

Whew -- that was an interesting hour and a half :)

Glad you found him and that he didn't jump.

He never did that in my tank, but other fish and snails found their way into the overflow.

Take some eggcrate and cover just the top of the overflow. That should stop him from doing it again.

That or cut some black acrylic to cover it. I had issues with algae growing in my overflow slots, causing my tank level to rise as the auto top off kept filling the sump (wasn't draining correctly from the tank to the sump). Egg crate is much easier if you don't have the algae problem.
