Yes, the shell is very thick, but this is the biggest clam I have, my maxima's are only 3" and 4" each, the Pohnpei is much thicker and much much heavier.
Hope you do not mind? With all the talk of the disease these clams carry I really monitor new purchases. Where did you get this clam? How long have you had it? do you have other clams and if so is this one in with the others? Would you please keep us posted on the progress of this clam?
Lovely clam by the way.
I wish it a long and healthy life in your tank.
Up date on my Pohnpei Clams. No problems with them at all as well as my other clams. Just order 2 more. There may have been a problem with these clams in the past due to other things but think the problems have been resolved.
My Clam is doing great, great reactions to shadows and is opening up real well. I would definitely recommend ClamsDirect if anyone wants one, Barry runs a classy operation.
Just got back from Germany and while hubby was watching things, all clams are still doing well. So happy as I was worried that I wasn't home to take care of things but he did a good job.
i love that clam. i ave 4 pohnpei maximas in my tank and they are really doing great. the color and pattern seems much more diverse than the tonga and marshall island clams.
