60 gallon cube tank, what to get?

I want to keep SPS eventually and was planning on getting the stream kit TS07. My tank is 24x24x24. Would this work or would it be too much flow? I have a 1000 gallon/hr return pump with approx 5 feet from it to the tank. I would like to get rid of my other powerheads.

when i ran my cube i ran a pair of streams and a return and still felt like i could really add to the flow. JME

yep, identical. i had one pump on the back wall down about 12 inches blowing through the rock work, and one down about 4 inches blowing across the diaginal

I would just add that this would work best if it was bare bottom. With a DSB I would say forget it. The corals will take the flow but you will have a sandstorm if you have fine sand.

Its not bare bottom. I have a 1" deep sandbed. Would the stream work with this sand. I would think that it initially would move the sand a bit and once it moved to where it wanted to be it would stay there. That is what happened with my regular powerheads.

Any other suggestions on how to increase my flow in this tank without doing a closed loop.

This is a good idea. You could start with one even, I would try a 7400/2 and get the multicontroller just to have the flexibility to add a second one. Or, start with no controller and decide from their. I know a 7400/2 will make a 60 cube swirl like a toilet being flushed.

Can you buy a multicontroller? At the site I just looked at it says preorder. Also what is the difference between the multicontroller and the singlecontroller. It seems that the single controller can can control two pumps with an adapter.

They should be available, recently I have been out but most dealers had ordered so many that I assume they would have some left over in inventory. The singlecontroller can run 2 pumps but they both run the same program, likely you will want to alternate pumps in a smaller tank like that and not run both together at high speed.

How much flow can you get in a 60 cube without it looking like a toilet bowl? Or should I say how would you do the flow? Would closed loop work?

It depends on the corals being kept. Honestly I think the toilet bowl effect is desirable, it really keeps stuff suspended.
