6000 maintenance

I have two relatively new 6000 - they have been running for two months now - no problems and very nice - they are on the latest controller.

I read the manual re cleaning today and it does not mention vinegar, etc like I have seen on some forums - I do not add calcium of any kind other then what comes in my red sea salt.

I would like to know the extent of the cleaning I should do at this point. I have not taken one apart yet but notice in various threads that making sure it is getting cooling flow, etc thru little holes is important.

Do I need to to "dismantle" the drive unit as described on page 36 of the manual and/or disassemble the drive unit as described on page 37 during maintenance other than "repairs" - to make sure are cooling holes, etc are clear?

For the maintenance I perform now should I use vinegar?

Does my 6000 unit have the part number 6 oring as described on page 37 and shown on page 36 - it says they are on the 6100.70 but I know there is confusion as to what is shown on the box, etc.

I would run the pump in a bucket of 50/50 vinegar and water for 2-3 hours every 3 months. every other time do a full dissassembly and clean the hole in the center of the magnet. It may be possible to do this only once a year if you have modest calcium and KH levels. Be very careful, the screw on the prop should just be snug, if you overtighrten it you will be buying a new one and a new shaft, the main reaosn I don't like people dissassembling things more often is the tendency to break parts by forcing them. If the pump is less than about 6 months old it should have this oring, it is not critical it only acts as a sound dampner for the wavebox and fish care features as it puts a tension on the brakes to restrict them from moving from slight motions.

thank you
