7095 controller and streams

My 7095 is connected to 2 6201 streams. The streams work but don't respond to the controller. One of them is on all the time unless I push the timer button then it goes off. The other runs at full throttle even if I push the feed button. only goes off if I unplug it. Neither of them respond to the power levels. The controller shows the power level going up and down but the output from the streams stays at full. Doesn't matter if I have the night mode on or off. I have replaced the MIDI cables with brand new cables to each pump and no difference. Tried them in all the different channels and they still just run at 100% and don't respond to commands from the controller. Help! Suggestions?

Thanks

Hello mdvistnes, the 6201 become available 2 years ago. Is the issue starting recently or it has been going on for 4yrs.

Problem just started recently. Might not be a 6201 then. I was looking online but doesn't seem this model of stream pump is sold any more. Maybe it was the predecessor. In any event, the pump works, it just doesn't get the commands to alternate flow and other parameters from the controller.

Do you see any light on the controller? Something must be wrong with your controller. Do you have any friend who can temp loan a controller so you could test the pumps with? You will need to send in the controller so Roger or Rodney can take a look at

Have you check all the wires make sure they all plug in properly. If the controller working properly, there is no reason for the pumps not to pulse...

all the wires are properly seated. triple checked it. could the little blue aluminum box the transformer and MIDI cable plug into be defective? Are all MIDI cable created equally? Robert told me before to get them from Radio Shack which I did. Robert?? You out there??

No Robert, but this is Roger. You probably have 6200's, the drivers may be bad, I suspect this over the controller. The only way we can resolve this though is if you can send me the pumps and controller unless you can verify whether it is the pumps or controller on another set of pumps.

OK - do the new powerheads that are due to come out (stream 2) have driver boxes as well? Does it makes sense to wait till they come out and just upgrade as this was my plan in any event? Thanks Roger. Any problem if I just let them go at full flow till they come out?

The stream 2 will not have the driver box like the 6200. The motor block will contain the driver.... The stream 2 will be available in the next couple months. I think you should way and upgrade....

Running them full power shouldn't be a problem, something must have happened with the controller interface socket on the driver, that is my guess. I have seen this a couple times, one time was salt creep, one time was a socket that had broken contact with the board. One other thing does come to mind though, if you turn the driver down all the way, sometimes it won't work with a controller, be sure the driver setting is at full power.

OK - thanks Roger I'll try that.

As far as pre-ordering, I'm trying to figure out what's available and the differences. I should wait for the 6105 series as opposed to the 6065, 6125, or 6085? It looks like these latter 3 are not controllable? For a 180 gal reef tank am I looking at 2-3 of the 6105's as ideal on the controller? Thanks a bunch.

I think 2 6105 would be ideal. 6065, 6085 and 6125 are not controllable. We don't sell direct so you would need to preorder and expect a fair delay in the order being filled. Production capacity on the new pumps is limited by the circuit boards which are just now entering full scale production. We get 20 6105's this week and at least 60 have been sold already and I have been told I will get only about 20 per week until December when we should be able to get about 60-80 per week.
