hello SPS keepers I have two questions

i was planing set up 60G sps cube (24x24x24) and i pick up a light for it allready

Reef Optix 1 Plus Pendant + 20K Radium 250W + Galaxy 250W electronic
Ballast

but now i like to get 70G cube (30x30x18) and I don't know if it's enough light coverage for it ?

and i'm thinking about getting Reef Octopus Extreme 160 skimmer for it or should I go with Extreme 200?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated ... Thank you

I guess it all depends on how high you hang it off the water....I think you would be fine...Worst case scenario, add another one......

I believe a 24x 24 x 18 would be sufficiantly covered by a 150 w,

A 250 w raised up, should cover a bit more area once raised. I think you will be ok at the shallower depth.

I figure worst case scenario, you will get a 2" inch lower light area around the tank which is sufficiant for algae magnets to thrive.

Could always tack on some t5 supplemental to top it off.

I have nothing to base my answer on, so if im off someone else can chime in.

I would think you would use a 400w on a 30x30 space, but that's up to you. There's now doubt that a 250 will work but IMO it will be too high off the water once you get rid of your dark spots. I'd just do some experiments with used equipment if I were you.

Yes get the larger skimmer you can always put it on a timer or crank it back.

or maybe i can get bigger reflector like LumenMax or Lumen Bright or

Hamilton Cozumel Sun Reflector (20x20x9.5)

30x30x18" here...
here is my setup...
in front, 2xt5 nova extreme 2 bulb 30" unit.
in front center, aquatinics suspended unit with 250 watt se radium and 2xt5's on pfo hqi ballast
in back center, 2xt5 nova extreme 2 bulb 30" unit.
in back, 2xt5 nova extreme 2 bulb 30" unit.

8 total t5's and 1 250watt halide. I like the setup because of the variety of bulb choices.
Good luck with the setup...keep us posted.
Thanks,

thanks for all advice guys i'll stay with 250W for now I just have to go and get a new reflector i'll post some photos when i set up everything

Thanks again
