i have a squamosa clam in a 20 gal. long under 150w 10000k halide. its open pretty wide, but it doesnt have that "shimmering" effect. do i need a stronger light???

Whats not shimmering the clam? I have had my gold squamosa for about 1 1/2 yrs now and never seen it shimmer. Im guessing you mean your not getting the shimmering effect in the tank on your rocks,from your lights, right??As far as the light goes thats plenty for that type of clam.

What shimmering are you talking about? If your not getting the shimmering effect from the halide its probably because you don't have any movement on the waters surface. Point a powerhead up and see what happens.
