90 Gallon reef aquarium set up help

Does anyone know of a 30 gallon breeder tank where the dimension is 36x17.5x12 I know they all say 18" however under my stand the width is 17.5 :/ The only thing making me use a 20 gallon long for a sump over a 30 gallon breeder is that .5 inches. I was wondering if there was a tank that was technically 17.5 but they round it up to 18" on the dimension charts.

Thanks for the response explorer07! So do you think it is smarter for me to buy this set up for my sump and add the reef octopus 150 int into it and buy a refugium light etc or start looking at DIY sumps? Is there perhaps a benifit to me building it myself?

Hi, I am really impressed with the Ecotech equipment and can see why the added cost is worth it in the long run but I am unsure on the sizing of equipment for my tank size. Like I said before would 2 MP10's or 2 MP40's be the route to go. As well would I need 2 XR15w Pro's to cover the size of my tank. It says the lights are 18x18 and my tank is 48x18x24. Thank you again for answering my questions I know some of it is repetitive

4" filter sock. I'd pass. You're going to want to use 7" bags. Those 4" bags will be clogging much to fast especially if use a good 25 micron. You want the sump to fit your equipment, not smaller equipment to fit your sump.

Keep searching or get a quote from custom acrylic manufacturers. I used a standard 29 gallon tank from Petco's $1 per gallon sale they run every so often. But a 20 long would be fine. The 30 gallon would probably be best. I don't think Petco has a sku for the 30 though.

This may sound foolished but could I not just put a larger bag on it? I really want to buy a prebuilt sump do you have a good recommendation on one? I specifically liked this one because of the width. Under my stand cannot fit 18" deep and 12" deep tank doesnt seem like it would fit many skimmers.

I don't have a recommendation. But my 29 gallon easily fits my RO NWB 150, heater, Eheim 1262, UV pump, Generic GFO/GAC reactor pump, generic water change pump and a 7 inch filter bag. My baffles are set at 12 inches to increase water volume, the skimmer is on a 6" stand to correct the water level and when my return pump is off I still have 3 inches to the top from where the display tank water back siphons into the sump. It cost me $29 for the tank, $5 for the GE I 100% Silicone and $10 for the 3 baffles that a local glass shop cut and polished for me. So $44 for a perfectly good sump or $280 for a pre built pretty sump. That's up to you. A sump serves a purposes, aesthetics are irrelevant if it's housed in the stand. That's my opinion anyways.

It would be great to save the money on the sump but I am concerned about building it as I am not exactly DIY savvy and there is so many guides out there.
I will come back to the sump I may have to call a friend to help me build it and I would need to find a schematic for one.
Now to the RO/DI filter. I have the room to store extra water in barrels and a sink beside my washer dryer for making the water but I am not sure on what RO/DI unit to purchase.

Minimum 4 stage. TDS meter (Buy Calibration Fluid), Pressure Gauge, Auto Shut Off. 75-100 gallons per day. Like I said, buy from one of the sponsors here or PM me. Expect to pay around $200 for a quality unit.

I actually found an neptune apex controller for sale at almost half price from this guy taking apart his tank for moving reason so I would like to buy an auto top off that was controller compatible. Is there anything specific I should be looking for with it or maybe a go to auto top off that most people go for?

People love the Tunze 3155. Mine is DIY gravity fed. RO to normally closed solenoid to float valve installed on a 20 gallon poly tank with a float switch inside. From the poly tank to the sump it goes to a normally open solenoid to an Eshopps float valve in the return section with a float switch (one in every body of water) in the sump to shut the solenoid if the valve were to stick open. If that failed then I programmed my Apex to close the solenoid if the Ph or Salinity were to drop past a specific point. You're going to need a Breakout Box with the Apex.

I should send you my PayPal email address. I'm making this too easy for you. Lol just kidding, I enjoy helping. ;)

Maybe I missed it in the thread, but is that Marineland tank Reef Ready? If so..no problem. If not, you are going to need an overflow box, or have the tank drilled for drains.

The tank is not drilled but I plan on having a local glass cutter drill it. I need a good recommendation on overflow box for a drilled tank. I have not had the tank drilled yet because I do not know if the set up will be 1.5" or 1" and if I need 1 or 2 holes. Thank you for your input.
