My Clown just got sucked into my modified MJ 1200 _ I was plugging it in and it was spinning the wrong direction, and he was curious. :( I was able to get him free. He swam down to the bottom of the tank and seems to be swimming - although he is hiding.

I see some damage/cuts - mainly on the top and side of his head.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Not much you can do........ I would wait and pray that he was not hurt too bad..... Taking him out of the tank to a hospital would be too stressful IMO......

I have had this happen to me n the past also with other fish..... Wait and see..... HOw long was he stuck? If only a few minutes maybe this will not be so bad.....

Good Luck.....:D

Thanks. He was only stuck for seconds less than 15 for sure - but it seemed like forever! I'm most concerned about the gash on his head.

If he has been in your tank for a while he may survive..... When I put my four marroons into my 400 gallon the two dominant females faught quite a bit..... They really beat each other up..... After the fighting was over they healed up just fine and now all live happily together in the 400 gallon..... They are tough little fish.....

Keep us posted.....:D

I hear you..... Pairing up clowns can be a real hassle.... Most of the time the new fish needs to be significantly smaller than the established fish in order to limit fighting that occurs when you try to do this....

Well - its 8 days later and the clown is still alive. He/she does seem a bit more reclsuive than before. More concerning is the wound. I'm not sure that it is healing well or not. It doesn't look infected or anything just still pretty raw and sore. The fish is eating and swimming normally. I could've sworn I saw my fire shrimp doing something to him the other day. How long would you expect a wound would take to heal. I haven't treated with anything as of yet.

if he is eating/accting normal, I wouldnt worrry about it. fire shrimp are good cleaners. it may have been picking dead tissue and whatnot off of the clown. Depending on water conditions and diet I have seen fish recover form bad wounds in a few days to a few months. I had a maroon that a trigger took a bite out of his stomach and he healed up fine in about 3 weeks. I think your fish will be fine.

Hope your clownfish makes it through.

Maybe treat your baby to better foods for a while with selcon.. Doesn't hurt... :)
