AC Jr. pH reading different from test kit

I am reading a pH of 8.5 from the AC Jr. and a pH of 8.1 from my brand new salifert test kit. I've calibrated the probe and the reading was .16 off the calibration packet.

If my pH was actually 8.5 wouldn't fish and coral be affected? BTW, I dose Co2 which should lower pH.

After calibration the controller (in run display) should read 7.0 and 10.0 in the appropriate calibration solution. If not it has not been properly calibrated. The numbers displayed while calibrating are not important, and will NOT read 7.00 and 10.00 - they are the raw values coming into the controller.
If the pH was 8.5, the corals and fish would look fine; it is not that far away from the norm.
