AC Jr - Problem Programming Timer Names

Hope someone can help me with this problem.

I have a new AC Jr bundled with a DC-8. I've successfully calibrated the PH, and also the temperature probe. I decided not to use it as a PH controller, just as a PH monitor. So, the next step I took was to try to change the default CO2-A07 to LT3-A07. Here's what I encountered: (ref pg 13 of the manual).

In both Mod Timer Name and Add Name modes, pressing select doesn't take me to the 2nd character of the timer name.

I initially tried "mod timer name" to accomplish the above task. When it did not work, I went ahead and deleted A07, then went to "add name". Pressed select, and display shows AAA@-A01. (@ for the 4th character symbol that shows up). Pressed UP repeatedly to scroll to L. After L showed up, pressed select. Nothing happens. Pressed select again, L changes back to A and cursor jumps to 4th character. Pressed select again, cursor jumps to A (6th character if you count the dash.) Press select again, moves to next character, which is 0. From here you can press up to change 01 to 07. That part works OK.

Am I doing something wrong? Under "add name" I want to change the AAA to LT3. Can't seem to go past the first A.

I was looking forward to a long weekend of rearranging my wiring and breaking in the AC Jr. Again, anyone, please help. Thanks in advance.

I suspect that you have a unit that went out with the incorrect version of firmware. I prerelease version was incorrectly put on our release server. The one bug in this release is that the cursor does not advance when modifying the timer names. The work around until the firmware is updated is to just realize that you are modifying the 3 characters of the timer name. Each time you press select you will advance to the next character.

Curt, thanks for your reply. The firmware version on this unit is 3.00J-LA05.

How do I get the firmware updated?

Sorry, I don't get the workaround. "Each time you press select you will advance to the next character". That's exactly what it doesn't do. Can you please clarify?

I just got off the phone with a friend who's owned a ACJr for many months, and he walked me through. My unit doesn't behave like his. When he presses select, his advances to the next character.

Thanks again,

Jim

Please send an email to support@neptunesys.com with the serial number of the controller & your name/address, and I'll send you a Jr update cable.
Internally the controller is advancing to the next character each time you are pressing the select key. It is just not moving the cursor on the display. So enter the first letter of the timer name, press the select button, enter the second character, press the select enter the third character, press the select, and now you can the rest of the timer info.

Got it, and thank you very much. It worked! I sent you an email with the SN and my contact info.
