AC JR Temp Error?

I am having a problem with the new AC jr. It's been
in use for a week or so and I am not sure if I am getting a
correct reading.

Before all lights turn on,
- The AC jr says 83;
- Ranco temp controller says 81;

AFter the lights are on,
the AC jr never goes for more than 84;
the ranco can go up to 83;

I have a 400W and 2 250W MH on the 180 and
it seems the AC jr is not registering the correct
temp swing.

I was hoping to get rid of the ranco controller
and use the AC jr to control everything but I
would like to be confident that it is recording
the right temp.

Is there a way to calibrate the temp probe?

Thanks!

I think it shows you how in the instructions. You can calibrate it to the temp that your ranco is showing, the problem is, which one would you trust. I know for a fact that the AC jr temp probes are already calibrated. Right now my temp is at 85 degrees and was at 87 yesterday. Found a faulty heater(who wouldve guessed) Thank goodness that Im in the cycling process and am shopping around for a chiller. Just wondering where you placed the temp probes? I placed mine in my overflow to hide it and it keeps it away from any pumps or lights.

Thx, I guess I didn't read the manual well enough.

However, it is hard to decide which one to trust. Wish there's
a better, more reliableable way to calibrate

If you can get another thermometer get a cup and fill it with crushed ice then fill with cold water. Put your thermometer in the glass. The temp should read 32. Take the thermometer and put in the tank by the other temp probs. You can calibrate off the thermometer. HTH
