acan lords

Its been a while since I owned any, but the more you feed them, the quicker they grow. You can feed them everyday if you feel like it to get faster growth.

Ditto.

Many non-indos take a long time. However I have had the rarer indo morphs take a long time time also.

First and foremost you have to take into account your tank parameters such as Ca/Alk, lighting, salinity etc.... Then you have to consider if you are feeding correctly (max 3x week). There is no true magic component that answers the question. There is a fragging tutorial posted showing that the best method to propagate Acans is to cut the polyps in half.

like the others said it realy changes depending on the coral, and what else is going on in the tank.. also they need room to grow, so a single polyp will grow buds around it a lot faster. While whole colonies if having know where to bud tend to just get puffier.

IMO they bud off new pieces pretty quick. I have a couple lord frags that i bought and they bud off a new polyp about 1-2 a month. It does take them a while to grow to full size but they still are clearly visible. I have one that i bought in august that started out as 15 polyps and noo has about 25.

like mammoth said if they have room they will grow much faster, I have a large colony that does not spread much at all because it covers the entire rock that it is on.

In addition i do feed them mysis and the more they eat the more they grow. However it is said that feeding sometimes does sacrifice color. I don't know if this is short term or longterm problem.

On Feeding: I noticed that when I feed more often, say 3 or 4 times a week. They didn't look as good. They're weren't as puffy. Maybe its like how we feel when we over eat. We don't want to move and we moan and groan in discomfort. haha

But when I fed once a week, they appeared more lively.

I can't imagine in the wild that they would naturally catch as much food as we try to force feed.

Who knows......
