Acan ?

I got this piece from RM labeled as "rainbow acan." Is this an acanthastrea? Also, note the fine filaments at the base of a couple of the polyps. That's the reason I took the pic. I thought they feed with their short tentacles.
Anybody has the same piece? Pics please.

Marine134, that's a rainbow I take it. Is it the true color? Mine is a little paler but the colors are pretty much on target.

i'm serious, that is super colorful and i really like it, i could be high anyway but thats just the christmas spirit lol really the piece is super colorful and i like it a lot.

If you get a chance to get a real close look, see if you observe any little tiny crabs in a polyp that has a white ring around the mouth. I have acan echs and others i know have a tiny crab in these holes. they don't harm the coral, just a cool hitchhiker

also the fine filaments at the base of the piece are very potent stinging cells, that come from there guts, they will melt anything that they touch so be careful.

Anyway, any suggestion on placement of this acan for color enhancement/health. Another question, I see short tentacles on each polyp at night and I tried to target feed but it doesn't seem to be catching any even with tentacles extended. Do you feed yours? Thanks.

i don't spot feed it but when i feed the tank it at times does grab mysis or brine from the water column.

Thanks jessp. The piece came with a combo of milli and microlados (which RTN'd because FedEx left the package in my front door in a 85 F, my instruction was that I would pick it up at the station). This is the only survivor of the combo. I'm not disappointed with the piece but with the death of the two SPS. I like it to get more color. Any suggestion? Lighting/placement, etc? Thanks.
