Just wondering what everyone does with their Acan placement. All other things being equal (light and flow are acceptable in both locations), where do you like to keep your Acans? Directly on the sand or on top of a piece of rock? Is one or the other better for the health of the coral?
Acans on the sand or the rock?

I prefer on a rock for the simple reason that I don't want any sand to build up and smother a polyp. I do have some on the sand but I rest them on top of a rock to keep them slightly elevated. Eventually they grow down to the sand, but for some reason fair better. Maybe it give them a chance to settle in.

I had a small micro colony on the sand and some polyps got smothered by the sand and died. Around the rock I lost about 8 polyps. At the time I had no where to put them. I just put off mounting them on a another rock. My laziness cost me.

Put the on a rock so they have something to grow onto.
