acrylic supplier

ok well i think its time for me to try to build my own little tank out of acrylic so im looking for a somewhat local supplier (northwest suburbs preferably). ive heard not to use home depots acrylic so i am wondering where do you guys buy your acrylic and get it cut at?

I just went to Streamwood plastics over lunch and couldn't be more happier. I got 3 15"x15" sheets 1/4" thick plus a bottle of weldon for $20. All of this was achieved in less than 10 minutes. I highly recommend the place.

I am very pleased with these folks. I called while on South 53 and they took the dims right there on the phone and had them cut and waiting for me within a half hour. They answered questions readily and were very friendly when I picked up the order. Wow!

They don't carry weldon though. They sold me a small bottle of another type of solvent (can't recall the name - something "400") similar to weldon #4. With this solvent, they recommended that I place a thin coat of silicone over the seams after 24 hours for a watertight fit (I'm putting baffles in my acrylic sump).

I got the same service with the same bottle. I was even able to get an applicator bottle w/needle from them as well.
