Adding sand to existing tank

Hey

My tank is "bare bottom" and in this case it has the little rocks on the bottom people put in fresh water tanks so often. Just wondering if adding sand now is a good idea. I'm almost at the limit of how many fish I should put in there so I want to do something different to make it better.

Thanks.:rolleye1:

You can take out the rocks and add sand if you like the looks. I'm not sure that adding sand will have much other effect.

sounds good. i'm thinking about just sprinkling some sand in on top of everything - would it hurt polyps? probably not.. shouldn't hurt anything. might look like tropical "snow."

Sprinkling the sand won't hurt anything, but over time the rocks will work their way to the top. I wouldn't mix the two.

ok. while we're on this subject, are there any marine animals that will dig into the rocks to clean out the buildup underneath (i mean besides just turning the top pebble a little bit like the sally lightfoot does)? thanks again..

Not as far as I know. I've hear claims a pistol shrimp would do it, but I'm not sure I believe that. That's one of the reasons I ditched my crushed coral.
