Advice on decent RO/DI unit?

I want a pm that will make me happy too!!! as I am really in the market for a system but cant decide on what to go with....

Bryan,

I don't want you to think that I'm arguing with you. I tried to put the explanation in simple terms. Most folks aren't really going to know about "reactive" removal or "catalytic" carbon.

does anyone have a pic of their typhoon that they could share? I am wondering how the pressure gasuge is mounted and does it come with an inline tds meter on it? pics would be great!!! I have also heard theat vertical di cartridge is not as efficient as the horizontil mounted di!?!? does anyone have any feedback on that?

Full size vertical DI is more efficient than horizontal.

The Typhoon III comes with a handheld TDS meter. Inline meters are more prone than hand-helds to getting build-up material on them and causing false readings (since they are always having water passed through them).

I agree with that That is why the Optima CA comes with a handheld and a Dual inline :)
You can check them against each other

They may be....but they sure are nice to have. I don't care what my incoming says on my in-line. Not too much I can do about it anyway.
I'm looking for the 0 on the output, and occasionally check it with my handheld. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but there isn't going to be too much buildup on the RO/DI side, is there?

Bryan

Can I also get a PM that will make me happy :D:D You would not only be getting a happy customer you would be helping out a Veteran..

Thanks
Arlo

I don't care what my incoming says on my in-line.

Remember that comparing your incoming to the RO output will give the rejection ratio of the membrane, telling you when to replace it. ;) That's where the hand-held will come in handy if the in-line is off.

All, thanks again for taking time to give your advice, it is truely a blessing that we have RC boards and you members who are willing to help the less experienced reefers!

I'm new to this forum and had thought I would order the typhoon on payday. Now I have to evaluate a new unit. Bryan mind sending anoth PM? I will be getting a RO/DI in a couple of weeks. Now I don't know which one... again.

I know that. That's what my handheld is for and as I said, there is really not a lot I can do about the buildup (if there is any) on the probe. I use my in-line primarily for my DI output. I compare the two meters every now and then and check my RO water when I change my DI resin.

You won't be disappointed with PurelyH2O and Bryan.

I have a Ocean Reef +1 Five stage RO/DI from "The filter guys", thats under $200, well probably more with shipping, either way, I think it's a great unit !! That and they had the quickest email response out of the other 3 places I emailed, and actually one of the other places never did reply.... Granted when my order was complete, it was around $400, but I had a booster pump, auto flush, and another pre-sediment filter included...

WEll i want to buy a RODI too, problem is that I live in Mexico (monterrey, very close to the border maybe 2 hours in car from texas), is there any problem if I buy it over here with mexican credit card (visa of course) and shiped to a friends house who lives in the border (mcallen)???..is there any problem ?..or it cant be done??
