after lighting upgrade

After the holiday I am planning (if Santa comes through) on upgrading from my currrent VHO/NO setup to 3-250 watt MH. Thus far I have 3 clams (deresa, maxima and a crocea) and they look great but don't grow to much(had them from 1-2 years). Will the light upgrade change this and help them grow faster and be more vibrant in color? Also do you guys feed them at all with anything other than light? Oh and my tank is a 125, 6' long.

Hi
I feed my small clams by switching off the pumps and targetting the food on them.
All my small clams are close to the surface .
My bigger clam is probably getting the coral food I put once every other day.

For the MH, I think it'll improve your clam's life.
But you should be careful.
Place the MH, higher and take it down gradually every few days, about 3-4 steps needed.

Also, put a short photo time to start with and every few days increase the photo time.

All those steps are for your clams and corals to get used to the stronger light.
