AGA stream mounting issues

I am having a hard time getting my Stream 6000's mounted on my AGA 125 reef ready tank. I have ordered the "oceanic" adapter kits (3000.244) but the screws are still to short to mount to the side of the tank. The new placement of the AGA megaflow overflows limits my placement options with the stream rocks that I have been using, and I would really like to mount he streams to the side of the tank. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

your best bet is making your own brackets from acrylic or using silicone to attach your current brackets to the glass.

If it assembled properly it will work. I include a photo of a 7400/2 mounted on my 120 Oceanic. Trim should be the same size. The piece with horseshoe notch goes on the inside deep grove of the rail. The flat piece with the rubber boot goes acroos the trim. One screw comes in from the inside on the bottom. One screw comes from the outside on the top. Both screws should go through the long notch in the rail. The bottom screw on the inside is tightened to snug. The top screw is tightened to provide the final bite in and just a little- it is the same concept as your standard Jorgensen wood clamp or Bessey sheet metal clamp which you may have used in projects in the past.

By the way- the suction cup, small screw and nut act as a spacer- insert the nut in the back of the suction cup and place it on the back of the rail in the bottom hole after you have the clip for the pump on the rail. Then use the screw to hold it on.

Thats exactly the way I tried it. It wouldn't reach across the trim. I was able to mount them to the overflows, it worked out OK.

Did AGA change trim? Is it the long metal screws that came with the 3000.244? If need be there is a specialty machine shop here that I can get longer versions from but they have to be special ordered from Germany, it takes about two weeks. The included screws are M5 55mm, I seem to recall I could get up to 70mm. I will check into it if you like.

AGA changed the overflow location away from the ends of the tank which is making placement on the overflows less than ideal. The trim appears to be 35mm wide on my AGA 125. With the width of the 2 "end pieces" this leaves less than 2 turns of the screw to hold the streams in place (with the 55mm screws) which is simply not enough to keep these beasts in place. I would love to have the 70mm length screws so I can move the streams to the sides were they belong.

Let me see what I can do. I have a lot on my plate but by the end of the week I should be able to arrange something.

Yes, Oceanic measures 28mm and it works perfectly. I can see the problem though. I have to admit that we don't see much AGA in Texas as Oceanic is made here and after shipping AGA is the same price. When we designed this holder, Oceanic being smaller and more accessible was our source for trim and I just assumed it must be the same, I order from them for my shop and know most of the people there. Maybe we need to try to get some AGA trim to Germany too. Understandably most companies are reluctant to give us pieces of trim as it is propriatary. I know it works with Perfecto though as well.

If you have any luck locating some longer screws could you let me know. I am able to mount mine but like Dr. King said it only has about 1 or 2 usable threads. In mine it actually makes it so that the stream points up towards the surface a little rather than being level.

I called and spoke with Axel Tunze today and he was going to see about having the next batch of screws made to be 57mm- we don't want them so long that they are an eyesore for people with other types of tanks. In the meantime I bought a half dozen 60mm m5 screws today but they were not available with thread the full length, when I get sometime I will try to cut thread the reast of the length.

That sounsd great. Please PM me and I will give you my mailing address. I really appreciate the fantastic customer service.

Did anyone ever receive the longer screws?I think the screws in the kit would work if they were threaded all the way from tip to head like the ones in Rodger's picture. You don't suppose the wrong screws were packaged in these kits,do you?

They should be threaded the whole length, at least one of them should. Did what you recieve not come with at least one threaded full length?

Both long screws are only threaded 2/3 of the length.I understand how it is supposed to mount, but it is not going to mount on an AGA tank with these screws.I also understand the placement of the suction cup,bot there still needs to be some sort of extension between the bracket and the cup.The distance is too far for the suction cup to lend meaning.

If the distance in longer for a spacer, cut the black tube that is used for a stand off to fit, the small screw holds the tube and the suction cup goes on the other end. A sharp bread knife can cut this piece if you don't have a hacksaw. PM me and I will send you a completely threaded screw, this most have been a mistake because they should have full length threads, the ones I have here do..

Rodger-I don't have a black standoff. The screws I have are not threaded.I spoke to you about this last October.I ask you exactly what should be included in part # 3000.244 and you never wanted to answer.I ask where I could purchase the proper screws and you blew me off saying that it was costing you too much to supply screws to people.Of course I still need the correct screws and standoff. There is no question,I don't know why you keep asking.Reading through many of these threads about people not understanding how to mount the streams on AGA tanks,I bet there are a lot of mispackaged kits in hobbiest hands. With all the inquiries you have had about this mounting,I would have thought you would look into the matter.Your reply always seems to be -we can't understand why you are so ignorant. You even offered to make a 3D movie to help the dummies out.
Do you think you can help,or do I have to let this Stream sit unused for another 6 months?

Hey, chill out. I think I have always tried my best to be helpful and a PM of your address was all that was needed to get me to send you a free set. I can't fix something when I don't understand what the problem is and you have to try to help yourself, I posted a video and someone could have said- hey mine doesn't look like that or sent me a picture to explain the situation, frankly your rudeness is uncalled for.
