Ailing torch - help?

I have a torch in my 29g which has been in there for several months. A couple months ago, it started having polyp extension problems. The individual polyps went from average 5" to 1/4". If I see it with 1/2" extension, I consider that a good day.

I figured there was a problem with my light, or my water quality; but I have other corals that are doing great. My frogspawn is beautiful, monti cap does fine, candycane is gorgeous, kenya tree and xenia grow almost faster than I want.

I have some green star polyps that lost a lot of their PE about the same time, however. I figured whatever was bothering the torch was bothering the GSPs too.

Water parameters are great, other than dKH. It is at 7 right now, and I have been trying to get it a bit higher.

Any insights?

WHere is the kenya tree relative to the torch? That can be a problem. Try the torch next to the frog. Mine can touch with no problem, but be careful: some torches may be hotte.r

The kenya is only 6" or so from the torch. I used to have the torch near the frogspawn, but it still had the same problem. Come to think of it, though, I might have had the kenya over there at the same time.....

I am thinking about getting rid of the kenya anyway. It is kind of big for the size of my tank now, and if it playing chemical warfare to boot......

Carbon is always a good idea in a mixed reef, doesnt mean you can stick the corals right next to eachother, but it definitely helps
