Algae ID.

I have several of these "tube algaes" growing in my tank.
When they were very small I thought them some type of tube worm but they are not.
They are not very firm despite their looks and have no reaction to touch, movement or light.
Anyone have any ideas on what it may be and any pertinent information?

It appears to be Neomeris annulata and the only reason I know this is because I have the same thing and looked it up just yesterday online. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...ata&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sa=G

If you come across any good images of Caulerpa nummularia, besides the picture ATJ posted, please link them for me. That's what I believe my other mystery alga might be.

Definitely Neomeris. Pretty alga, I've seen crabs covered with it.

Probably Neomeris vanbosseae

The rather weak manifestation of whorl-annulations in the calcium crust suggest it.
