Algae/Plant Id...

Hello,

I was wandering if anyone knew what this algae/plant was? It apperared at the end of my cycle of figi live rock. It wasn't there until the end of the cycle. It seems to have slowed down now that the cycle is complete....there are maybe one or two other rocks with a patch or two of it. The picture attached shows the entire top of the rock covered. The leaves look almost like plant leaf....any ideas? WOuld any algae loving fish devour this up? Thanks for th imput!!

That looks like Sargassum. Here is a FAQ about brown algae.

If you have a very large tank a Naso Tang will mow it down. I think many species of sea urchins will also like to eat it.

Thanks, Kevin, I think thats exactly what it is. Looks like some people actually want it to grow in spme parts of their tank. I know I m not particulary fond of it. I may have to prune by hand or get an algae killer.....Thanks again Kevin!

Do you think a rabbitfish would eat this kind, I am infested with this stuff...My naso didnt touch it.
