The dense short (3/4") deep green mats called maiden hair are mentioned in Bob and Anthony's invert book "Reef Invertebrates: An Essential Guide to Selection, Care and Compatibility " mention it as a good algae. Fish like it and it doesn't go to plague proportions quickly. I believe this is the kind of algae that they try to cultivate in algae scrubbers.

To post a picture you need to have the image hosted somewhere, many use photobucket because it's pretty easy and free. Once you have the image there, copy the IMG code from the list of tags available under the photo. It will look like this (whitout the spaces)

[ IMG ]http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/Black4MandM/Treewoot.gif[/IMG ]

Just copy that code into your post and folks will see the picture:

(Unless they are at work and their network admins block Photobucket, then they just see the little red X)

RC has a gallery that you can post reef-related pictures in. They don't take kindly to storing silly guys running around a tree.
