alkalinity testing

I heard there was a way of testing alkalinity using another type of test. I have a ph test, calcium, and the usual others, (nitrate, amonia, nitrite). I have an alkalinity test on the way, but I am bored and want to know the levels right now. thanks

You need an alkalinity test kit. I suppose a chemist could put one together, but more practically an LFS might run the test for you.
