Alkalinity through the roof

I just changed out calium reactor media from ARM to the Schuran about 2 weeks ago and of course had to adjust the PH on the controller to a lower setting 6.3 to 6.4. Today i noticed some RTN activity on a couple of my acros so i decided to run some tests and noticed my alkalinity was higher than the test charts (I use the salifert test kit for Alk) How can I bring the alkalinity down slowly as to not shock the tank.

Add less CO2. That will drive less calcium and alkalinity into the tank. Don't focus on reactor pH. Focus on tank alkalinity.

Use a second syringe for the alkalinity and add the values together to get a true alkalinity reading.
