Does aluminium rust in salt water ?

There are PVC pipes that have to insert them an aluminium sleeve to be connected as clip on in the fittings, like elbows, T's etc and you don't need to use sealer or primer etc.

Are these good to use for plumbing ?

aluminum does corrode in saltwater, generally you have to use high grade steel or titanium in saltwater. i would shy away from the fittings that use aluminum and just use PVC glue

Yes I know that you guys all use plastic pvc only with glue, but I am just wondering if these are good or no. I here people saying that if things are good for persons are reef safe.

This type of plastic pvc and plastic fittings, but to connect them need an aluminium sleeve (sleeve are made for eliminating glue use) are good for persons, because people use them to connect water with them around all the house in bathrooms etc.

So if they are good for persons I guess are good too for fish etc ?

No good.

I would use no metal of any type near the tank except for SS and titanium, period.

Of course you can do what you want.

Pat

Well, not exactly. People don't live in saltwater, which is where the chemicals from corroded aluminum will end up.

Also, most people stay away from Stainless Steel, as most of it is far from 'stainless' when it's near saltwater. There are, however, different grades of SS.

The only way I'd say 'yes' to the aluminum fittings is if they don't come into contact with the water.

A lot of houses use copper tubing for plumbing and it doesn't bother us at all, using copper tubing in a reef would be leathal to all your corals and anemones.
