If ANY actually exist!

Would any fanatics out there please share any details to your success (spelled: kept greater than 1 year and it NOT killing most of his other tank mates) with the infamous Acanthurus Lineatus or standard "Clown Tang"?

Please contribute:

-tank size
-its size, initially and currently
-# and kinds of other tangs if any
-frequency of feedings

Thanks

Greetings All !

These guys were introduced together on May 14, 2003 ... all still playing happily together. Pictured are Powder Blue Tang, Mimic (Eibli) Tang, Clown Tang, and Chevron Tang.

Feeding: Live blood worms and/or brine shrimp 4X weekly, with a constant supply of live Gracilaria. The Gracilaria is the key ... why fight when you can graze?

This is their home ... 48 X 20 X 20 (approx. 84G) glass; G2 skimmer; 4 X 96W PC; Rio 20 HF & Rio 26 HF returns; Sea Swirl; approx. 76 lbs. Live Rock.

HTH.

Were Walt? I have searched there many times with only limited info obtained... maybe you can share the magic?
Thanks.

I believe it was either in an editorial or in Scheimers collumn. As I recall both terry and greg have kept them successfully.

This is only, what, 2 years old. I'm looking for the same answer. Anyone with success?

It will be going into a 900 gallon tank with lots of other tangs but smaller, different body shaped tangs.

I have a friend who keeps one with a yellow tang for about half a year. Well the first thing to keep in mind is to find a healthy specimen. Dont forget to quarantine before adding to the tank. As they are Acanthurus species, they are fast swimming and needs lots of place for this. Give him a lot of swimming place of his own. And dont feed him only with algae but also give him some protein as clown tangs also hunt on shrimps in the nature.

Thanks ozadars. My father lives in Izmir, can't say I see him much.
But it's good to see a turk reefkeeping. :)

Well you should see him more as the seas over Izmir is covered with very beautiful marine species ;)
I used to live in Izmir btw but I moved to Istanbul for collage last month.

A good friend of mine has had a clown tang in his 180 gallon super reef for almost a year now. It is housed with a black tang, blue tang, and a yellow tang. He got it after all the other tangs and it was the smallest of the bunch.
