Any ideas on this macro?

Because of the coloration (and the fact that it survived my 2 foxface, rabbitfish, purp tang, sailfin tang, & flame angel), I thought it was a coral. Problem with that is I can't see any polyps! I bought a tonga shroom rock about 3 months ago and it grew from sprouts to this since. Any ideas/point in the right direction?

Look up Dictyota{not sure on the spelling}
It is distasteful and very fibrous..that is why noone will eat it.
